Do you recommend any header, banner, logo maker? I've checked out Pete's recommended XHeader (free version) and its pretty good but limited/mainstream in terms of the pics themselves. Not too sure how the paid version is.

Yes these guys make very professional looking logos and they're pretty fast.
They sent me 3 initial concepts to review and you can keep sending them revision requests until the job is done.

You can use them anywhere you want to promote your site. I use them in the website header on my sites obviously. But I've also used them on Facebook fanpages for the profile pic etc.
